Description
The DuoDek-S is a wall mounted spray system is used to for supplying a two part water-based adhesive to a single spray gun. The two double diaphragm pumps are wall mounted and located adjacent to the adhesive and activator containers. Adhesive and activator are drawn from their original containers via suction tubes
to the diaphragm pumps.
The adhesive is pumped through a pulsation dampener terminating
with a ball valve, while the activator is pumped through a 10-micron
high capacity filter before being fed through a flow meter to
precisely control activator flow. The adhesives and activator are
then fed through a 5-metre flexible hose to the hand spray gun.
This results in the two parts not meeting until they reach the end of the gun so the system does not have to be in constant use and providing that the gun is hung up in between uses blockages are rare.
The system comprises of:
• Walther Pilot Bond 2K spray gun – Specially developed for
applying 2K water-based adhesives
• 5 metre flexible hose set(s) for spray guns
• ½” polypropylene, double diaphragm pump for the adhesive
• ¼” polypropylene double diaphragm pump for the activator
• Flow meter c/w fittings
• Activator filter (10 micron)
There are a number of advantages to using water-based adhesives rather than solvented adhesives. Solvented adhesives require a higher level of extraction as they contain solvents that need to be removed from the working area. Water-based adhesives still require a level of extraction but the particles created aren’t harmful or carcinogenic. Also cleaning of the equipment can all be done with water so no harmful chemicals required there either. Water-based adhesives create an incredibly soft bond line, much softer than solvented sprays. The two part water-based adhesives have the same initial grab as a traditional contact adhesive so they also won’t slow production down.
This system can be used in conjunction with Chemique Adhesives ProAqua 3311 used primarily in the foam industry, ProAqua 3316 which also offers fire retardance and ProAqua Office which is capable of adhering to plastics as well as wood and foam.
Each spray system is specific to the environment in which it is to be installed so pricing for the system would be subject to a site visit. This site visit can include a full demonstration of the equipment and the adhesive. As we are a recognised distributor for Chemique water-based adhesives we can still offer their Total Service Package so installation, commissioning and servicing can all be arranged with their team of engineers.
