Description

This Paintless Dent Remover Kit is perfect for removing dents in car, vans and caravans. Suitable for the removal of door dings, hail damage, minor body creases and minor bumper indentations. Unlike more established methods of dent removal, glue PDR has the advantage of being more precise and effective, as well as being compatible with both aluminium and steel doors. Using this technique also makes it easier to correct dents in hard to reach areas. The T-bar design allows for more pulling force to be applied to the tabs to enable an easier dent repair.

The kit includes a dent removal repair T-bar tool, 18 tabs of varying shapes and sizes and 5 sticks of specialised dent removal hot melt. All you need is a hot melt gun to apply the hot melt to a dent remover tab and attach the tab to the dent. Allow the hot melt to cool for 30-40 seconds and then using the puller slide hammer T-bar tool pull the tab away from the vehicle panel. The hot melt then simply peels off the car without causing any paintwork damage.

What is included in a professional dent repair kit?

A professional kit typically includes a variety of glue pulling tabs, high-strength PDR glue sticks, and a pulling tool such as a slide hammer or a bridge puller.

What is a Paintless Dent Repair (PDR) Kit?

A PDR kit is a specialised set of automotive tools designed to remove minor bodywork indentations without disturbing the factory paint finish.

Unlike traditional repairs involving sanding and filling, PDR utilises adhesive pulling tabs and mechanical tension- via slide hammers or bridge pullers – to manipulate the metal back to its original “memory” state.

How does glue-pulling dent repair work?

Glue pulling involves bonding a high-strength plastic tab to the centre of a dent using specialised hot-melt adhesive.

Once cured, a lifting tool applies controlled outward pressure to the tab, drawing the metal level with the surrounding panel, leaving the original clear coat intact.

Can PDR kits fix hail damage?

Yes, PDR kits are the industry standard for hail damage restoration. Because hail creates numerous shallow “dings” across large surface areas like hoods and roofs, the non-invasive nature of glue pulling allows for rapid, multi-point repairs that preserve the vehicle’s resale value and original E-coat corrosion protection.

What are the limitations of a DIY dent repair kit?

PDR kits are most effective on shallow, round dents where the paint is uncracked.

They are less effective on sharp creases, dents near panel edges, or “stretched” metal where the elasticity limit has been exceeded. Professional results often require “reading the light” using a reflector board to identify microscopic high and low spots.

Is PDR glue safe for all car paints?

PDR glue is formulated to be safe for modern factory-baked finishes and high-solids clear coats.

However, it should be used with caution on “resprayed” or touch-up areas, as the bond strength of the PDR adhesive may exceed the secondary paint’s adhesion to the primer, potentially causing delamination.

Does this dent repair kit work on all car models?

Yes, PDR kits are universal and work on any vehicle with a factory paint finish.

This includes cars, vans, motorcycles, and trucks. The effectiveness depends on the panel material (steel or aluminium) and the depth of the dent rather than the specific vehicle make.

Can I use a PDR kit on a car with a resprayed panel?

Caution is advised. While PDR is safe for factory-baked paint, resprayed panels may have weaker adhesion between the paint and the primer.

If the bond of the PDR glue is stronger than the respray bond, there is a risk of the paint pulling away from the panel.

Will the glue damage my car’s clear coat?

No, the specialised hot-melt glue used in these kits is designed to be non-invasive.

What is the difference between a slide hammer and a bridge puller?

A slide hammer uses kinetic energy for a sharp, “snapping” pull, which is ideal for deeper or sharper dents.

A bridge puller provides slow, controlled tension, making it better for shallow, wide dings where precision is more important than raw force.

Can this kit fix a dent on a body line or crease?

Dents on body lines are significantly harder to move because the metal is reinforced by the fold.

While a professional-grade kit can improve these dents, they often require advanced techniques and multiple “pulls” to restore the original geometry.

How long does the glue need to dry before pulling?

In standard UK temperatures (approx. 20°C), the glue typically sets in 3 to 5 minutes.

You want the glue to be firm but slightly tacky. If it is too hot, it will stretch; if it is too cold, it may “snap” off the panel prematurely.

Why is my PDR glue not sticking to the tab?

The most common cause is surface contamination.

Both the pulling tab and the car panel must be thoroughly cleaned to remove wax, road grime, or old glue residue before application.

Does temperature affect the dent removal process?

Yes, temperature is critical. If the metal is too cold, the glue will set too quickly and lose its grip.

Ideally, the panel should be between 15°C and 25°C. In winter, you may need to gently warm the panel with a hairdryer before starting.

Can I fix hail damage with this kit?

Absolutely. PDR kits are the primary tool for hail damage because they allow for dozens of small repairs without the need for expensive repainting or body filler, preserving the car’s original value.

How do I know which size pulling tab to use?

Choose a tab that is slightly smaller than the flat “floor” of the dent.

Using a tab that is too large will pull the surrounding “shoulders” of the dent, potentially creating a larger “high spot” that is harder to fix.

Is a PDR kit better than using a suction cup?

Glue pulling is far more effective than suction cups.

Suction cups only work on large, shallow, and smooth surfaces, whereas glue tabs can be placed precisely on small dings and provide a much stronger mechanical bond for a successful lift.

What is a “high spot” and how do I fix it?

A high spot occurs when the metal is pulled slightly past its original level.

You fix this using a “knockdown” tool – a nylon or plastic-tipped punch – which you tap gently with a hammer to massage the metal back down to its flat state.

Can this kit fix dents on aluminium panels?

Yes, but aluminium is a “dead” metal compared to steel; it doesn’t have the same “memory” and requires more force to move.

You may need to use stronger glue and more frequent pulls to achieve a flat finish on aluminium bodywork.

How many times can I reuse the pulling tabs?

PDR pulling tabs are made of high-durability nylon or plastic and can be reused hundreds of times.

Simply clean the old glue off after each use to maintain a clean bonding surface.

Can I use this kit on plastic bumpers?

No, PDR kits are designed for metal panels (steel and aluminium).

Plastic bumpers do not have “metal memory” and usually require heat-shaping from behind rather than glue pulling from the front.

Do I need a reflector board to use this kit?

While not strictly required for DIY use, a reflector board is highly recommended. It allows you to see the “shadow” of the dent, helping you place the tab exactly in the centre and see exactly when the metal has reached a flat state.

Is this kit suitable for professional mobile SMART repairers?

Yes, the Bondrite PDR kit is designed to meet professional standards, offering the tensile strength and reliability required for daily commercial use in mobile “Small to Medium Area Repair Technology” (SMART) services.

What happens if the glue gets on my clothes or skin?

PDR glue is a non-toxic hot melt.

If it gets on your skin, let it cool and peel it off; for clothes, Isopropyl Alcohol will usually break the bond, allowing you to peel the residue away without damaging the fabric.

Will this kit fix a “sharp” dent caused by a stone chip?

If the metal is “stretched” or pointed (often called a “pit”), a PDR kit may lift the area, but a tiny imperfection may remain.

These usually require “blending” techniques to be completely invisible.

Can I use a standard craft glue gun with this kit?

While a craft gun might melt the glue, we recommend a high-output 100W+ glue gun.

Professional PDR glue requires a specific “melt-flow” temperature to reach its maximum tensile strength for pulling metal.

How do I store the glue sticks so they don’t go bad?

Keep your glue sticks in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. UV exposure can eventually break down the polymers, making the glue brittle and reducing its pulling power.

Why does the dent sometimes come back after a few days?

This is rare and usually means the metal wasn’t fully “relaxed.”

Professional PDR involves relieving the tension in the “crowns” around the dent so the metal stays in its new, flat position permanently.

Is it hard to learn how to use a PDR kit?

The basic concept is simple, but achieving a “perfect” invisible finish takes practice.

We recommend practising on a scrap panel from a breaker’s yard before attempting a repair on your pride and joy.

Does PDR affect the vehicle’s anti-corrosion warranty?

Because PDR does not involve drilling holes or sanding off the factory E-coat (the protective primer layer), it is the only repair method that typically keeps your manufacturer’s anti-perforation warranty fully intact.

Can I use the kit if the paint is already cracked?

If the paint is cracked, glue pulling is not recommended.

The adhesive will likely pull the loose paint off the panel, exposing the bare metal to rust and requiring a traditional body shop repair.

Why choose a Bondrite PDR kit over cheaper alternatives?

Bondrite is a specialist in industrial adhesives.

Our kits feature high-performance glue formulated specifically for the UK climate and heavy-duty tools that won’t flex or break under the high tension required for professional results.
