Rubber Boat Repair Adhesive Kit – C5004

Rubber Boat Repair Adhesive Kit C5004 is a two-part, solvent-based adhesive formulated on polychloroprene rubber. It is used as a two-component, high-performance adhesive system for a wide range of industrial applications, to provide an excellent water-resistant bond.

C5004 has been designed specifically for use in the repair of rubber boats, For clarity, these inflatable boats are sometimes referred to using the following terms: inflatable dinghy, rubber dinghy, inflatable rescue boat or rubber duck.

It is also suitable for the repair of wet and dry suits, marine fenders and is also an ideal contact adhesive for use in bonding rubber linings in storage tanks.

What are inflatable adhesives generally used for?

Inflatable adhesives are used to bond materials together, such as wet suit fabric, PVC or polyurethane rubber, in the construction and repair of inflatable products, such as bouncy castles, bounce houses, air mattresses, water slides and inflatable boats / dingy.

How long does inflatable adhesive take to dry?

The drying time of inflatable adhesives depends on several factors, including the type of adhesive, the temperature, and the humidity.

Components may be handled within minutes of bonding. Full cure requires 48 hours under normal ambient temperature conditions but the strength of the adhesive bond continues to increase, reaching its maximum within 6 days resulting in the ultimate performance for your inflatable.

Can inflatable adhesives be used outdoors?

How to repair a bouncy castle

As with all inflatable repairs it is important to ensure that surfaces to be bonded are clean and free from grease and other contaminants. We recommend that you abrade both the inflatable and the patch (not supplied in the kit) with a clean emery cloth or wipe with a suitable solvent cleaner.

To undertake the repair apply an even coat of the adhesive to both surfaces with a brush. Allow the adhesive to dry for 5-15 minutes or until it is dry to touch (knuckles).

Please note: Applying two thin coats of adhesive is preferable to ensure maximum adhesion. Leave the first coat of repair glue to dry for approximately 20-30 minutes before applying the final coat. Allow the final coat to dry for 5 to 15 minutes.

Join the surfaces together using as much pressure as possible. This is to prevent air entrapment. Components may be handled within minutes of being bonded.

If you are repairing an inflatable boat or a rubber boat and are using our inflatable/rubber boat repair kit then the only change to the instructions above is to mix the two components together before applying the repair glue.
